The second edition of the Asian Masters Fencing Championships drew nearly 200 participants representing 12 countries across Asia and Oceania. This turnout was significantly bigger than the inaugural Asian Masters Championships held in Manila last year where about 90 fencers coming from 9 countries.
Obviously, the biggest number of fencers were from host country Australia showing their much developed veterans programme. Fencers from New Zealand, Samoa, and Tahiti contributed to the participation of Oceania. Other Asian countries present were Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Iran, and Japan.
The 2nd AMFC was the first such competition organised by the Fencing Confederation of Asia hosted by Australia. Thailand will host the 3rd edition of the Asian Masters Fencing Championships in 2017.
