All FCA competitions will now implement the use of standard FIE equipment and uniforms. Giving due attention to ensure the safety of all fencers participating in its competitions in Asia, the FCA Executive Committee approved a resolution to strictly comply with the standard regulations of the FIE in the use of equipment and uniforms in all competitions.
While the use of FIE regulation equipment and uniforms has been strictly observed in the Asian Fencing Championships (it being under the supervision of the FIE), the same conditions were not strictly enforced in other competitions such as the Asian Juniors and Cadet Fencing Championships and the Asian Under 23 Fencing Championships.
It would be noted that with the objective of encouraging the participation of new and developmental fencers particularly from some developing countries in Asia, the use of FIE regulation equipment and uniforms have not been strictly enforced in the AJCFC and the AU23. Oftentimes, some fencers were allowed to use non-Maraging blades, and under prescribed Kevlar uniforms, among others. While all of these equipment and uniforms still undergo and pass the usual weapons control check, the safety of fencers are still compromised.
In its recent decision, all the organizers, FCA SEMI Delegates, weapons control personnel, and all competition officials such as the Directoire Technique and Referees are enjoined to strictly enforce this Directive.
