Foilist Yuki OTA of Japan won the first gold for Asia in the 2015 World Fencing Championships recently held in Moscow Russia. OTA beat American Alexander MASSIALAS, 15-10, in an exciting finals between two non-European fencers. In the quarterfinals, OTA won convincingly against Chinese LEI Sheng, 15-9, and repeated the feat in the semifinals against another American Gerek MEINHARDT, also by 15-9 score
Yuki OTA is currently the president of the FIE and the FCA Atheltes' Commissions and accordingly a member of the FIE Executive Committee. He is a multi medal winner in various fencing competitions including the Beijing Olympic Games and the London Olympic Games. He was also an individual gold medalist in the 2006 Asian Games, and won a team gold in the 2014 Asian Games.
Yuki OTA was born in Shiga, Japan on November 25, 1985.
